GPS
What is GPS?
GPS = Global Positioning System
As if there’s a need to elaborate. Who among you techy guys doesn’t know what GPS is?
Anyway, this is about me getting bitten by the GPS bug. I just got a phone with GPS capabilities, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. After reading and doing a lot of research, which I doubt if I’ve done enough, on how to use the GPS flawlessly, I was able to use Ovi Maps from Nokia. Aside from the Ovi Maps, I’ve also downloaded Nokia Sports Tracker. There are a lot of other alternatives with regards to what Nokia Sports Tracker can do, but I thought I would try this first, if it would be enough for my needs. So far no regrets. It does exactly what I want it to do (I may have to write another blog on my reviews of the Sports Tracker). Here is my first official test of the Nokia Sports Tracker —>Test Run
Before coming down to the Sports Tracker, I’ve read about the Garmin XT. But unfortunately, the software comes in an SD Memory Card, and can not be transfered to any storage device. What happens to the memory card that came with our phone? If I were Garmin, I would have a website where patrons can purchase and download the software that can be installed in any device. As previously mentioned, Garmin is limiting its product distribution to it’s own devices.
What do I realy need? What I was really looking for is something that I can use as a guide when I go biking in the trails of, for example, Sta. Rosa. Trails in Sta. Rosa, South of Manila, will lead you to different routes. For someone not familiar with the place, it’s unfortunate that you can not enjoy the trails without having the fear of getting lost.
